Maria has skills in crochet, knitting, embroidery, and sewing. She learned when she was 8 years old, as her grandmother taught her as a way to distract her. Before Moema Brasil, Maria saw crochet only as a hobby, but today it is a source of income. Now, at 56 years old, crochet has given her more financial freedom to buy what she likes, improving her self-esteem. She says she is proud of each piece she produces.
